TANYA SHIMER

 

 

Boulder County attorney Tanya R. Shimer founded her law firm in 2006, after ten years serving as a legal-aide attorney for BCLS. With 27-plus years of “lawyering” under her belt, Ms. Shimer continues to specialize in estate planning, probate and small business representation. In 2012 she became a Certified Mediator, adding alternative dispute resolution to her practice, with an emphasis on family law, business law and probate.

Ms. Shimer understands that each client has unique legal needs and her priority is to take the time necessary to listen to her clients to ensure she understands their needs and implements their particular legal objectives in a timely and cost efficient way. Ms. Shimer prioritizes clear and timely communication with her clients, and has received national Clients’ Choice Awards in 2012 and 2023, has been recognized as a Martindell-Hubble Best Estate Planning attorney and she is also the recipient of the John Robert Marshall Award from the Boulder County Bar in recognition of her excellence.  

Ms. Shimer is a member of Colorado Bar Association, Boulder Bar Association, and several other professional associations. She obtained her Bachelor of Art degree in English Literature (1988) and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado, Boulder (1996).

She is a certified life coach and in 2023 became a certified Compassionate Inquiry facilitator. She is well versed in Nonviolent Communication, trauma-informed therapies, and other modalities to help her clients cut through the distractions and get to the essence of their legal needs.

Ms. Shimer resides in the mountains above Boulder, Colorado. She helps run a nonprofit meditation center and has been teaching meditation and yoga for 20-plus years. Her favorite downtime is spent taking long hikes in the mountains with her yellow lab Ben.
